Rick “Poppa Dawg” Halisheff is one of western Canada’s best blues dudes. Music’s been his main mission since he was a tiny child. He may hail from the ‘left coast’ of Canada, but for over twenty years the Dawg’s been running with blues legends like Sonny Rhodes, Jeff Healey, Powder Blues Band and Tony Coleman on stages as far away as Mexico. His influences range from Dr. John and Ray Charles to Howlin’ Wolf and Freddie King, Poppa Dawg has himself been a major inspiration to Big Eli B’s musical path over the past few years. Poppa Dawg wowed the crowd at last year’s Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Fest, and well, he wows ‘em everywhere he plays. With four cd’s to his credit, a pile of awards, and a vast repertoire, the guitar slinger extraordinaire delivers slinky grooves and hard hitting, low down blues with energy and enthusiasm that brings audiences to their feet. If you love the blues, spread the news and bring your friends to Steamboat 2016.
